Creating Angles

Article care of midwestsupplements.com

I don't know what the reason is, but these days it seems almost impossible to find a gym with the old 30-35 degree angled Incline Bench Presses. It seems all the equipment manufacturers have went to the 45 degree angle. It irritates the heck out of me. It seems like when I work on that steep of angle, my delts get pumped huge and triceps are fried, but my chest suffers as a result.

Here is what I do to solve the problem. I find a platform of some kind in the gym to elevate the front of the bench, tipping it slightly backwards to produce less of an angle. If no wooden blocks are available then I'll build the platform with 45's and rubber pieces. It works fine.

You do need to be extra careful when doing things like this though to ensure that you and members around you aren't subject to any potentially dangerous situations. If you are in doubt, don't try it. I have yet to have one negative experience in all of my years of training and doing this though.
