Using Wrist Straps

Article care of midwestsupplements.com

In order to train with maximum intensity on exercises such as the chin up, bent over row, high barbell rows, and shrugs, you are going to have to invest in a set of wrist straps. These are training aids which help secure your grip to the bar when performing exercises. They help ensure that your grip is not the weak link in the exercise and that the targetted muscle will fail before your grip does.

I often hear the arguement that you should train without straps. The notion is that training with straps will not improve grip strength or forearm size. What a crock! Why then don't we hold the barbell at the mid-point of a bicep curl while squatting? Surely that would help with grip strength and arm size wouldn't it? This is a similar line of reasoning that these people are arguing with regard to not using straps.

If you want to improve your grip strength, get the proper equipment to do so. If you want to make your forearms larger, do wrist curls and reverse wrist curls. If you want a big back and big traps, then train with straps!
